Proceedings of “University of Kassala Partners & Collaborators in Chikungunya Epidemic Research Meeting”

Introduction:
The eastern Sudan States are known to be endemic with dengue fever since 1986. In August 2018, Kassala city in east Sudan has been affected by a significant outbreak of Chikungunya. University of Kassala launched an initiative to lead the scientific research of the epidemic. In this context, University of Kassala and Kassala State Ministry of Health organized a meeting for partners and collaborators to participate in Chikungunya Epidemic Research, on Monday, November 5th, 2018. The meeting is under the patronage of Ust. Adam Jama’a, Walli “Governor” of Kassala State, and under the supervision of Professor Abdulla Ali Mohammed, the Vice Chancellor of the University. They invited many experts and researchers from research centers, universities, and the World Health Organization. The meeting aims to prepare research projects to reach a deep understanding of disease dynamics, clinical complications, and its economic and social impact.
